I recently spoke to a room full of ideal clients who are very likely to buy from me, but I still charged for the
event and here’s why: access to me costs money. Full stop.
It doesn’t matter if 100 people are in the room ready to buy from me; if I speak, my time and expertise still
cost money. What’s more, every time I charge for my knowledge and time, I am setting a standard.
Standards are actively held. Not set once and abandoned. Integrity is woven in the fabric of my brand
because it’s part of who I am in my dna.
Are you holding standards in your business? Or do you cave out of fear? These women entrepreneurs
were smart, driven and excited to learn. I could have EASILY told myself "the promotion alone will be
worth it". But I made a promise to myself that my time & knowledge cost money.
So I stated my fee. The organizer could have easily said "no thanks then". That was a high likelihood. Then
I would have missed an AMAZING opportunity!!! But wait. An opportunity where I have to shrink myself
and abandon my integrity is not a good one regardless of the potential income.
My promises to myself are more important.
More important than:
● validation from others
● what is "industry standard"
● what other people are doing
● what is accessible to everyone
The clients who DO pay top dollar to work with me deserve me at my best. Not burnt out from working for
free. Not watered down to cater to everyone I cross paths with. I don't work for free. Ever. People may
think all sorts of things about that, but the opinion that matters most is mine. I'm the only one who has to
live with me and the choices I make for the rest of my life.
I told myself 2 years ago I was never breaking my promises to myself again. And look at my life now
So, what standards are you holding or NOT holding? And what needs to change?
I am running a social Media Challenge starting Next Week (Nove 14) and we are diving deep into bringing the JOY back into social media and selling.
The people I work with are smart, driven and powerful, and sometimes they need a little "taste" of me before signing up for a bigger package. If this is you, this challenge is a great way to get access to ME, for an entry level price.
If you wan to find out more check it out here.
And there are only a few spaces left! 5 spots SOLD OUT before I even launched this puppy.
